The PD-1679 is a homage of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. When you make a homage of a more famous model and brand it is important to make a few differences. It should not be a copy after all. If you copy and make a replica you might be violating copyright laws. This is why the original hour hand had the look it did.
